**meal serves 6**
So the weekend rolls around and you think, "It's grillin' time!", but want to make it a little more original than a slab of ground beef with some salt & pepper. Here's a whole meal solution that's sure to fill bellies and gain compliments.
We've even got a free hamburger roll recipe, a free Idaho potato salad recipe, and a free infused corn on the cob recipe! This project doesn't have to take a long time either. I make my own rolls (recipe linked below), but if you already have a few pieces of day-old bread (or store-bought bread crumbs), you can skip the homemade rolls recipe, but be sure you have some other rolls in the house for the burgers when you're done.
(You'll find that I use breads like others use chicken stock, butter, or pork fat. )
The entire meal feeds 6 and includes:
- Homemade Hamburger Rolls
- Onion & Breadcrumb Hamburgers
- Idaho Potato Salad
- Infused Sweet Corn on the Cob
Total Cost
And not only is this a good rib-sticker meal, it's CHEAP! I didn't add in the cost of the propane / gas to cook the burgers, or the pennies for pinches of salt, pepper, and paprika here and there, but that can't be more than about another 25c. So check out this meal cost:
Total cost for the meal for 6
$10.86
Cost per person:
$1.81
Now that's a money-saving table-full of great food!
Enjoy! |
